K PWinterer :

Wish DeLay were running. . . voice of reason. Now HE was a leader. Sure sign of a conservative is the hatred of the mainstream elephants...DeLay got it every day from them and was cheated by them (and their Texas peons) of his future!

David W. Lincoln :

Defending Tom DeLay is akin to defending the Keating Five.

Tom DeLay is the poster boy of what went wrong with the Republican Party.

So, his words carry as much weight as Ken Lay
or Jeffrey Skilling.

K PWinterer,
Yes, anyone who resigns amid scandal is a shoo-in for any office. Especially POTUS

I like Delay but this is just silly.

Linda Frank :

Besides being a political hack, DeLay (and Miniter to some degree) are spokespeople for that backwards silliness about "Who is Real Conservative?" Who cares? Live in the real world and make decisions best on the reality in front of you. Only people who are not able to think for themselves worry about whether an idea is more or less conservative. How about whether an idea works?

The contest for the GOP presidential nomination will ultimately come down to Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney. Which one will receive the support of Joe Lieberman once McCain is pushed to the side? This endorsement will be of the utmost importance. I think it will be the former mayor of New York.

This interview is absurd. Not only does DeLay have little to no credibility when it comes to being principled (in regards to representation and politics), the concept that one can build a conservative "coalition" by downtalking every candidate (and the beliefs of many people) is hypocritical and essentially empty.

Could it be any less possible that I care what DeLay thinks?

The DeLays and the Blunts, and their political amoralism is why we lost control of the House.

We were the principaled party, remember? That is what 1994 was about. That is why we got our clock cleaned last time around!
